GetYourGuide Adds Four New Languages To Its Travel Activities Platform
New domains add support for Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Russian and Mexican Spanish.
BERLIN — November 30, 2017 — GetYourGuide, the largest online booking platform for travel activities, today announced it has expanded its global presence with the launch of four new domains. As part of the launch, GetYourGuide has added Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Russian and Mexican Spanish as supported languages for its global inventory of tours, attractions and in-destination activities.
The newly-launched domains advance GetYourGuide’s global expansion goals by making its online marketplace even more accessible to travelers in Asia and the Americas. The launch comes on the heels of a $75 million Series D venture capital round raised toward those goals earlier this month, and the opening of regional offices in Hong Kong and Bangkok earlier this year.
“In recent years, we’ve expanded beyond our stronghold in Europe to become the global market leader in the tours and attractions space,” said Tao Tao, Chief Operating Officer at GetYourGuide. “Seamless communication is a crucial aspect of turning our customers’ trips into amazing experiences, and with the addition of these new languages, we can now speak with even more of our customers in their native tongues.”
In order to add language support for the four newly-launched domains, GetYourGuide employed a combination of manual and machine-based techniques to translate and localize its inventory of over 31,000 things to do. The launch brings the total number of languages supported on GetYourGuide to 18.
As the largest online booking platform for travel activities, GetYourGuide powers access to more than 31,000 tours, activities and attractions in upwards of 7,300 destinations around the world. From Skip-the-Line tickets to the Eiffel Tower to shark diving in Cape Town, GetYourGuide offers things to do for every traveller, both on its own site and in partnership with premier travel brands worldwide. Headquartered in Berlin, GetYourGuide employs more than 400 people across its offices in 11 countries.
